Privacy

Magical has no servers and no accounts. What you keep in it never reaches us.

Your calendars and tasks

Magical reads and writes your events and reminders through iOS, in the calendars and lists you already have: iCloud, Google, Exchange and others. They keep syncing through those accounts, as they always have; Magical never sends them to us. Its own settings, sets, templates and hidden events stay on your iPhone, shared only with its widgets, and its alerts are prepared there too.

Your location

Only if you allow it, and only while you use Magical: to suggest places near you, show the weather where you are, tell you when to leave for an event, switch a set when you arrive somewhere, and remind you of a task at a place. The last position seen stays on your iPhone, to know which forecast to show and where a trip starts, also when alerts are prepared again in the background.

Apple’s services

Place searches, maps, travel times and the weather are answered by Apple (Apple Maps, Apple Weather), which receives what each request needs: the words typed and the area around you, an event’s place and where the trip to it starts, a location for the forecast. Apple handles them under Apple’s privacy policy, which protects them as this one does, and may process them outside Switzerland, including in the United States. Magical Plus is sold by Apple through the App Store: we never see your payment details or who you are, and the app only learns which plan you have and until when.

Links you open

A place, a video call or a link opens in the app that handles it (Maps or Google Maps, as chosen in Settings; FaceTime, Zoom, Teams…), under that app’s own policy.

What we don’t do

No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. Magical contains no third-party code, and nothing about you is sold or shared.

Your choices

Each access can be withdrawn at any time in the iPhone’s Settings, under Apps, then Magical: calendars, reminders, location, notifications. The weather and departure alerts can be turned off in Magical’s own Settings. What Magical keeps on your iPhone stays there until you change it or delete the app, which erases it all; your events and reminders stay in your accounts.

This site

No cookies. It is hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland, whose servers keep the usual access logs (address, page, time) for security. Visits are counted by Umami Analytics, which may process them outside Switzerland: it sets no cookie and keeps nothing that identifies you, only the page, the site you came from, the browser, the kind of device and the country.

Writing to us

If you write to contact@realitytape.com, we receive your address and your message, use them only to answer you, and delete them once they are no longer needed.

Who we are

Magical is made by Elias Amari (Reality Tape), in Geneva, Switzerland, who is responsible for your data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, for visitors from the European Union, the GDPR. You can ask what we hold about you (nothing, unless you wrote to us), have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use, by writing to contact@realitytape.com. You may also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, or to the authority of your country. Should this policy change, the new one is published here with its date.
